Had a good think on this evenings commute home...
• Buy a plot of land and build a timber framed, straw bale house
• Jam with Victor Wooten, Bernard Purdie and Booker T
• Exceed Joseph Kittinger's parachute jump records: 1) Highest Jump - 31,333 m (102,800 ft). 2) Longest fall - combined free fall and parachute time: 13 minutes and 45 seconds. 3) Fastest free fall speed: 988 km/h (614 mph).
• Failing the above, at least leave the Earth's atmosphere - or failing that ascend to the upper reaches
• I've climbed Mount Kinabalu on Borneo, the world's 20th highest peak by prominence and i'd love to climb the rest of the Top 20 in order.
• Learn a foreign language or two
• Enjoy at least one meaningful, long-term relationship with a member of the opposite sex
• Complete a stage of the Tour de France
• Learn to ride a motorbike and complete several full-speed laps of Donington Park on a Moto GP spec bike
• See the Northern Lights
• Get a good haircut
• Have a photo published in National Geographic (Your Shot would be nice, but doesn't really count)
• Win a fortune on the National Lottery and give most of it away
• Get a submission on the front page of Reddit
• Build a Caterham Seven
• Build kit plane
• Fuck Cheryl Cole ass to mouth (bareback)

Done
3 1/2 of those.

And yes, a Caterham is as much fun as it looks - more in fact.

I met Joe Kittinger
He gave a talk at my university and joined us for a drink afterwards. A truly awesome bloke.

What was the talk about?
And what did he drink?
(, Mon 18 Oct 2010, 21:11, closed)
The bulk of it was his experiences as both a Vietnam era pilot and as a POW
Mainly because of the degree I did (War- yes really). But he did talk about the Excelsior project as well at the end. He had two bottles of Michelob if I remember correctly- wasn't a big drinker.

What's the obession with highest peaks and Sporting routes?
Are the highest peaks really the most enjoyable to climb, or the ones with the best views?
Is the Tour De France route really the most interesting route to travel on a bike?
OK, I'm being a bit awkward, but I am intrigued why so many people want to do "the highest" and "the most famous" rather than the most pleasurable and the most unusual.
Edit: Also, it's a general question, your list sound good.

In my case i think of stems from a desire to put myself up to these challenges
I'm by no means a fitness freak, or glutton for punishment, but I would like to stand on the top of Mt. Everest for 5 minutes just once

I'd quite like to do that
too, but have no illusions about it ever happening.

It is rather sobering though when you hear statistically, one in 10 people who try to climb Everest, die in the attmept. That's a lot of bodies.

sorry to be naive
but what is fucking someone ass to mouth?

edit: oh I think I just worked it out....
