This is a question Workplace Boredom

There's got to be more to your working day than loafing around the internet, says tfi049113. How do you fill those long, empty desperate hours?

Sandwich Joy
The formula:

1 - Work out exactly how much you earn, per second (this should pass a depressing 15 minutes or so, and look like work, with spreadsheets and stuff).

2 - Purchase a sandwich.

3 - Consume said sandwich at your desk in such a period of time that your post-tax income in the sandwich-consumption period was exactly the same as the cost of the sandwich.

4 - Free sandwich!

5 - Repeat.

Perfect
But I do it with Mars bars :)

It takes you 15 minutes
to calculate how much you earn per second?

also, you forgot to calculate the time you spend of work, but that you DO need money to live.

So if you work 40 hours of a 168 hour week, you work approx. 24% of the week. This of course means that you have to multiply your sandwich eating time by approximately 4.

In conclusion: Eat slower!!

other then that, I clicked :D

Yes it does
Once you factor in income tax, national insurance, student loans, pension contributions and leap years, and looking all the above up. Like I said, it looks like work.

I won't eat slower. Maybe buy cheaper sandwiches.

EDIT - of course your objection also makes the assumption that one's entire working life consists of nothing but sandwich consumption. And whilst in one or two jobs I've come pretty close to that nirvana, at the end of the day Greggs can always produce unidentified grey meat smothered in mayonnaise faster than I can gain weight.

Grey meat?
Prawn mayo sarnies are the work of the gods.

I love this idea
But it would shorten my lunch breaks considerably.

I make my own sandwiches.

That just allows you to fill more time
Calculating the cost of bread, butter and fillings.

genuis
I had expected this to end something like the Underpants Gnome philosophy, but you proved me wrong.

Me? I like to count it in biscuits.

I'm an unemployed (fancy that) student
So does that mean I can't eat?

Nice one. Think I'm doing the same thing, only I'm trying not to work at all until I technically 'earn' a free holiday somewhere expensive.
