This is a question Failed Projects

You start off with the best of intentions, but through raging incompetence, ineptitude or the plain fact that you're working in IT, things go terribly wrong and there's hell to pay. Tell us about the epic failures that have brought big ideas to their knees. Or just blame someone else.

Thinking about painting your ceiling is a great deal worse than actually doing it.
I speak from experience.

I concur
it takes hardly any time at all

Not necessarily
When I painted my newly plastered bathroom ceiling I used some sealant on it first to make sure the paint went on smoothly. Unfortunately the sealant is very very runny so I ended up with it everywhere. And I mean, because it was summer and I was doing this shirtless, EVERYWHERE.

The stuff also sets very quickly. By the time I had finished, my armpit looked and felt like I had a brillo pad growing there. It would not wash off and I ended up having to shave my armpits.

However, once the sealed ceiling was dry the paint went on a treat. An already painted ceiling should be no trouble.
