This is a question Worst Band Ever

If I was in charge of the B3ta fatwa department, we wouldn't be hearing too much from Simply Red in the future. Who's on your musical shit list and why?

Sex Pistols
I don't understand them at all. A band who took pride in a lack of any musical skill at all, as a result it sounds dreadful. Maybe its one of those things you had to be there for.
But I don't hate them, hate is a bit strong for mere music. I save it for people like 50 cent and similar gangsta rappers. 50p in particular, an ex crack dealer? Though a simple country boy I be, I'm pretty sure he must have seriuosly fucked up a lot of lives.

One of my lecturers recorded the sex pistols once
and the way he tells it you just had to be there. He said it was all so different he once told me they walked in to the studio, plugged in, thrashed out the set and then packed up. He couldn't believe that they were just happy with the recording based on them being happy with how they played it the once. We all questioned the amateurish shit they created and he explained that there were simply a lot of angsty young teens crying out for something different. That hasn't changed, my generation had grunge and the kids today have emo. Personally I think the kids that got the sex pistols were the lucky ones.

On 'Never Mind the Bollocks'
there are literally hundreds of guitar overdubs, and apart from Sid Vicious they could play their instruments just fine. The whole 'anyone can learn three chords and be a punk band' thing is technically true, but when you think how few bands got anywhere it's clear it isn't easy at all.

Never Mind The Bollocks
is a fantastic album, I put on my old vinyl copy not so long ago and it was striking how good it sounded, certainly didn't sound 30-odd years old.
Don't forget that back then they really weren't posers, they weren't doing it as a navel-gazing exercise like some Emo cunt sitting in his Mum's nice house. This country was a really bleak shithouse back then, and they were very definitely Public Enemy No1.
I remember going into a shop at the age of 12 and buying a Pistols single and the man behind the counter said to me, in all seriousness,as the shop hushed and women tutted - "Oh dear, another young man who wants to go to Hell"

Yep, I said "Wot a fucking rotter".

Under my breath, of course, Jesus, kids didn't swear at adults like the little cunts do now.
Eeh, them wuz the days......
