This is a question Worst Band Ever

If I was in charge of the B3ta fatwa department, we wouldn't be hearing too much from Simply Red in the future. Who's on your musical shit list and why?

I like lots of musical styles
I can't stand the 4king Smiths. They have produced nothing but tuneless, depressing noises to slash your wrists to.

Oasis strike me as a bunch of whining egotistical tossers, but they're hardly alone in that, so what the heck. I did hear a cracking early track by them but didn't note the title and haven't found it since. Acoustic track, Knebworth, hints, anyone?

Agreed

Cast No Shadow?
I have a live @ Knebworth'96 bootleg in my collection.

you have to bear in mind that the Smiths were borne out of Salford in the 70s
so a certain amount of depression is inevitable. Nevertheless, some of the songs would sound perfectly cheery were it not for Morrisey's lyrics- Panic, William it was really nothing etc are quite jolly.

So was John Cooper Clarke, but you never saw him whining like a pansy.

So were Joy Division
Well OK, the general Manchester area but you never heard anything but cheerful tunes out of those boys

Apart from "How Soon Is Now",
I cannot stand the Smiths. A number of Smiths fans have admitted they hate "How Soon Is Now".

Still, the Soho 'Hippychick' that sampled the riff is a far better use of Marr's Guitar efforts.
