It's the same with sitcoms - extended episodes don't work. Stick to 26 minutes.

There are a few films that I will accept need more than 90 minutes - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, for example - but watching The Wolf of Wall Street recently I was practically screaming at the screen for him to get caught and for it to just be over. Not even the gratuitous nudity was enough to sustain that level of interest for that long. As for American Hustle, it didn't even have any gratuitous nudity, it was just stupidly overlong.
