because (apparentely) the orb had a big feud with some other muso type people over who were the biggest Floyd fans and ended up remixing the entire back catalogue to prove their point
Though this was told to me by someone with daft hair and an equally daft beard. There are a lot of Orb/Floys remix MP3s knocking about the interweb though...
