even when they do a CG person and directly copy the movements from an actual person walking etc., it still looks wrong

Jurassic Park worked.
And some of the monsters in LOTR worked (but the greenscreening was diabolical!).
But everybody else is just using CGI because it's wrongly associated with superior results to traditional FX. They must be able to see that it's ropey, surely?
People are the worst. CGI monsters you can sometimes get away with if you're really good, but people just can't be done on computers yet.
