i hate the adverts in the simpsons too. but apparently channel 4 doesnt get much of the licence fee. it goes to teh bbc.

They use the excuse that they dont advertise. They are full of adverts for their own stations, freeview packages, magazine etc etc. Do BBC3 and 4 show adverts?(i only have terrestrial channels)

I want BBC to use my licence fee to buy the Simpsons. Now that's gone to C4, there isn't much else I watch on the BBC. So what am I getting for my hundred quid a year.
