# When my dad was in university he was in the empire club
which was set up just to irritate the international marxist society (the name was chosen on those specific grounds).

One of the 'expiditions' they undertook was to reclaim normandy for the british empire and they sent a nice letter to the mayor informing him of their intentions, then crossed th channel dressed like the chaps in the above picture. Apparently they got a warm welcome and a show of local culture was put on for them.

Its amasing how dull my university seams in comparison.

My dad also was a founding member of the society for the abbolition of thursday nights which was set up to get some money from the union (which had to give money to all new societies) and then use it get drunk. It then became quite popular. The poetry society was set up for the same reasons but then people started coming with poems which the founders were actually quite upset about.
