Also... we need a higher ratio of oxygen in the air than plants do... so it is conceivable that, although humans may die as a result of less oxygen in the atmosphere, sufficient amounts may remain to sustain plant life. :P

it's just that the rate of production of oxygen from photosynthesis exceeds the rate of consumption by respiration.
