# i have 2 images
one on top of the other and i want the top image
to appear to be being wiped away with a cloth or
a brush or something to reveal the image beneath
(, Thu 5 Jul 2007, 10:15, archived)
# -put a layer on top of the one to reveal/cloak
-set the top layer as "mask"
-draw on the mask layer
-everything underneath a shape on the mask layer will be visible, everything else is invisible
(this only concerns the masked layer)
sorry for edits :)

# i tried that
but the masking causes the custom shape to change into a square

# ? which flash version do you use?
I have no problems painting custom masks with the brush...

# flash mx
i used a .png image. is it better to just use the brush then?

# it shouldn't matter how you paint the mask
I used rectangles, circles or brushed shapes without problems
only if the form you use as mask is too complicated, e.g. has to many edges, it can be that it is deformed, but I only encountered that problem once with multiple custom-brushed shapes :(

Edit: the image is on a separate layer below the mask, and the mask doesn't contain any other objects, right? And do you use a tween on the mask layer perhaps?

# hmm odd
i've just tried it with the brush and i reckon i can do it that way.
cheers for your help

# the only way I know of doing that is
the slow way :(

which consists of a motion tween for the Brush
then frame by frame erase the top image following the motion tween......

im sure there are far better ways of doing it

# that's the only way i can think of to do it too
