Why doesn't Tyrell know about "the so called blush response" way of detecting replicants? - he designed their brains for crying out loud!

If Deckard really was the best Blade Runner there was - why did Bryant have to explain so much to him about the replicants he was forced to track down? how the fuck did he work out who was a replicant before the Voight-Kampf machine?
