# seams like an alright first post.
This may be the only way for me to get enjoyment from burning notes.

# Not bad, but try and keep things under 50kb :)
You might want to grab a copy of Photoshop to get the edges correct too, it's peasy to cut out from a white background using the magic selection wand.

What? Don't look at me like that. We all use it.

# 'cept me
/Fireworks user
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:13, archived)
# What IS fireworks?

# They is what you fires on Guy Fawke's night, innit.

# Adobe's (previously Macromedia's) Photoshop alternative
I use it because it's much smaller, cheaper and quicker to load, and easier to use if you just want a quick job done.

I does have the magic wand thingy, which is lovely.

I have Photoshop when I need hardcore still though.

# perchance I'm confused, but...
...Isn't photoshop ALREADY an adobe product? why would they have an alternative? waitaminnit, that's actually brilliant...
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 6:09, archived)
# I think it's mainly intended for producing web graphics.
Macromedia used to make it, and now Adobe have inherited it.
Sounds like he ^ knows better than me. I haven't used Fireworks much.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:18, archived)
# Yes. It's brilliant if you're a web designer and constantly dealing with resizing
and optimising images.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:19, archived)
# That's pretty much what I remember it for.
Also, wasn't it used for cutting up graphics into slices and laying it out for you in html? I seem to remember there was a time when it could do that much more easily than photoshop, and everyone was using sliced graphics to keep page load times down.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:26, archived)
# Yes it can do that.
Sliced graphics get on my tits though.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:34, archived)
# Hhahaha
yeah mine too. I was never a fan. I don't reckon many people do it now.

# Fireworks is/was the Macromedia equivalent of Imageready.
Now Adobe have got rid of Imageready since buying Macromedia.

This makes Jeru angry.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:21, archived)
# Ok, I certainly sympathize with that
but in actuality, as far as I'm aware there's only one thing that ImageReady could do that the new version of Photoshop can't do. For every other thing I've come across, it replicates the functions of ImageReady, although sometimes in a different way.

# I use Gimp.
I've never even seen Photoshop in action, and I know nothing of this magic selection wand you speak of.

Gimp has something with a similar name, fuck knows if it does the same thing.

# I used my ancient copy of Paint Shop Pro!
It also has a magic wand feature, but I guess I'm not very experienced with it.
I'm nowhere near as talented as some of the people on here.. graphics aren't my thing. Just wanted some fun.

Oh bollocks. I thought of this entry, and made it, before I saw the other recent ones about Big Brother AND the Queen. But then they beat me to it while I was working out how to post :)
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:15, archived)
# oh, that sort of thing always happens
especially with a new compo,
i wouldn't worry about it
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 0:27, archived)
# yeah, you have the right sort of idea
