Its meant to show the effects of ten years of Gordon Brown on the value of the pound. Its hard to think up jokes about the economy :)

All countries are currently facing a bad time, economically. It's not Brown's fault.

Besides, Darling is the Chancellor. It's Government Policy that Brown's now in charge of.
