SInce you've raved about it so much, I think I'll add it to the list of required buys.
I'm going to add you on last.fm and musically stalk you like a hound.

Depends upon the mood but usually the above.
what is being referred to these days as Nu Disco/soul/jazz.
Other than that it's going to be Some Sylvian, Nine Horses, Steve Jansen ( alternative jazz ).
In the car today I was playing the 1973 version of Quadrophenia.

Well, look at that, just the sort of stuff I really can't get into.
Maybe I wont adopt you as a father after all.

Dads and sons can't listen to

They're so... Happy.
It's pop-rock for 15 year olds. Of course, music is subjective, so who cares what I think, eh!

But you can't just label something crap without actually thinking about it.

I most certainly do.
ALls I'm saying is that poo-pooing something just because it's popular is not good.
Take it from a recovering music snob.

I don't dislike it because it's popular - the fact I love Nirvana throws that argument out the window.
I dislike it because it's bad.
As I said before, it's all subjective.

haha. Nirvana were fucking shite.
It's only the fact that they became popular that allows me to be able to make that technical critique from an honest viewpoint rather than slag them off because it was de riguer at the time.

In Utero and their early stuff was fantastic. It verged on noise-rock, which is brilliant!
Considering how big they were it's really not hard at all to find people who dislike them. Musicfun.

You should know better than to try and have a
sensible conversation with me in this area. I'm liable to be pulling your chain plus there are things I DO NOT WANT and they involve terms like Nirvana, Eminem, America, etcetera. ;)

Many things are bad
I don't disagree that they're bad.
I'm saying it has merit.
P.S. Nirvana was very good indeed. In Utero rocked so very much.

what the fuck does last fm actually do?
does it just tell everyone what I listen to in Winamp? What happens if I want to watch a quick bit of jazz material on and can't be arsed loading up a DVD in powerDVD. Does it show my porn channels too?

it just records what you listen to
keeps tabs on how much you'velistened to artists, songs etc...good for seeing what shit people like and shit

I'm doing radio tomorrow and I'm just mixing some stuff now seeing as shameless has finished.

It doesn't.
Personally, I use it for the radio stations. Once you listened to some music, you can use the 'My Recommendations' radio stream which is usually quite accurate. If it plays you a dud, just skip it. Great for finding new artists.

bloody hell
I'm no expert but that's just the sort of formulaic americanised guitar nonsense that 1001 bands are doing these days because they know they have a ready made market of flock-minded teenagers willing to spend their parents money on crap they will not even remember they ever listened to in a few years time.

Both points are well taken.
Consider this though... it's actually almost 6 years old by this time, and it follows suit quite well with the true spirit of ACTUAL Emo and punk music.
What I'm looking for is an actual REASON, not a complaint because the dipshit at the local record shoppe with plates in his ears dislikes them.
My points: It's melodic, it's original, and actually doesn't even use a 4-4 count A-E-F-G beat...
WHat makes some super indy thing ANY better?
