Leeds bash at the Cross Keys, take 2

Following the roaring success* of the last Leeds bash, I've decided to throw another one in the same place, the weekend after my birthday.

The venue:

The Cross Keys
107 Water Lane
Holbeck
LS11 5WD

It's a very nice place with friendly staff (even if it's pricey by Leeds standards), and it serves food and right good beers. It's in a currently-quiet-but-being-regenerated part of Holbeck (ie. it's not the smackhead-riddled shithole it used to be), and it's not too far from the station. What more could you ask?

My MSN account is in a permanent state of borkage, but I can be reached on Yahoo Messenger - my ID is woodside2559 - and MSN Messenger** - my address is [email protected]. I'll post my number on here a bit closer to the time.

* not 100% true
** subject to change depending on that account's degree of borkedness.

How to get there:

From Leeds city centre - go under the bridge by the railway station (the A653, Neville Street) heading towards the M621, and Water Lane is first on your right once you're across the river. You'll recognise it because there's a huge construction site on the corner.

From the M621 - take exit 3 on the M621 and head towards the city centre on the A653 (Victoria Road). Keep in the left-hand lane. As you approach the bridge over the river, you will see a large building on the other bank with "KPMG" on it. There are two sets of traffic lights here, about 20 yards apart - after the first, filter left into Water Lane (also indicated by a small yellow left-turn sign saying "Green Bank".)

About 150 yards from the main road, Water Lane splits into two; the Cross Keys is about 10 yards down the left fork, and there's an open-air pay and display carpark clearly signposted on the right-hand fork (Globe Road), just opposite.

Go on, go on, go on, Gowan, Gowan (etc) ....

mr. leeds-bash-organiser,

i'll be turning up for around 6pm. So stay in the cross keys or around the area :)

Edit: Bah. Sodding work have twisted my arm and I have to work until 10.45pm. I'll stay in touch, and if you're still going by then (and closer than holbeck) I'll tag along.

I understand the best way from Elsecar station

is to pretend you're going to Sheffield, but stand on the other platform.

get another one organised for after your exams

I should be able to make it then, as I don't have any other mates who are planning to get married this year (I think)

(, Mon 3 Apr 2006, 20:02, Reply)
Same here

except I may be moving to wonderful Skipton after teh exams, depending on job availability etc.

(, Wed 5 Apr 2006, 22:10, Reply)
i live in wetherby, which isn't that close

but skipton has a good train service to leeds I believe. Not sure what time it runs to though

(, Thu 6 Apr 2006, 8:38, Reply)
So

What actually happens at these bashes? Other than beer consumption of beer and occasional bum-gaying?

I live in leeds and pondering and contemplating whether this would be constructive use of my day-saver on a saturday afternoon.

(, Thu 6 Apr 2006, 9:08, Reply)
A lot of beers/misc. drinks are consumed

and a good laugh is generally had by all. Go on with you.

(, Thu 6 Apr 2006, 20:20, Reply)
i'm only promising 90% i can go

but i feel that the female b3tans aren't really represented at this bash so...

and if anyone has space for a guest sleeper, i sleep anywhere - if not i drive.

edit:- ok i'll give mcq a lift home but i won't be getting there till late afternoonish as i have to sort out a school in loughborough that day
