Gosh, if only there were some way of easily circumventing such monitoring
Some kind of way of preventing the camera from viewing the room.
Some sort of method that would mean that it would only see a creamy-beige colour until I wanted to use it.
Turn it to point at the wall perhaps?

You could get a miniature pair of headphones to clip over the mic, too

it doesn't use the camera it monitors what channel you are watching
but it's not privacy that bothers me, it's the fact that it rewards you for sitting through an advert.
