Have you seen the movie Robot and Frank?
Sounds a bit off topic I know but it deals with this issue. The last 10 minutes are very moving and sad. Its a great film.

I did see that
it is a strange forgettable movie, but it was really well filmed and a brilliant essay on old age, families, and technology.
