Maybe it is you who is wrong
Maybe these films really are ball hang. From your selection, I've only seen 2001 and from what I remember, it's nothing special. Perhaps if you watch it and constantly remember that it was made in the 1960s it has some kind of historical interest but if you watch it in isolation without the 50 years of hype behind it, its just a load of people walking slowly and some monkies flinging shit about.
