This is a normal post What surprised me was the sound they made. I usually can't hear them over my screaming.
Or maybe that was the sound of the cyclist sniveling.

This is a normal post I only saw one once.
On hols when I lived in Murca but it was ways off. I sort of want to know how bad the smell actually is.
My response is conditioned by Pepe LePew rather than experience

This is a normal post If you've lived anywhere near a rural area, you've likely smelled them after they've been hit.
Bad idea to accidentally run over skunk road kill because you become the peeyew mobile for real.

This is a normal post Yeah, they're nasty. I was driving to another state and swerved to miss skunk road kill and still got a bit.
The guy I was driving with was unreasonably angry at me for having hit it, certain that I'd done it to aggravate him. He was an idiot.

This is a normal post I spent some time working in the US when fresh out of Uni
We used to go out for lunch to a diner on the other side of the airport, which involved driving a rural road around the perimeter.

One summer day we drove that way to discover a fresh skunk roadkill in the middle of the yellow lines. It which was the single most vile thing I've ever smelled. We avoided that road for a couple of weeks to let the crows do their job, but found that even they wouldn't go near. The corpse was untouched, and remained there for at least a month.

My only encounter with a live wild skunk was many years later when one ambled out of the bushes next to me in a car park in Toronto. I ran like fuck.
