I find it weird people think someone else has 'no right' to park outside their house
neither do they, they don't own that patch of street

A lot of people do actually own that patch of the street.
The deeds to the house often include the land out to half of the street.
What they don't have (if the street has been adopted as public) is any rights to that part of the street.
