Some people love the drama.
Especially the sort of drama that gives them a spurious feeling of being on the 'right' side and they don't actually have to deal with the aftermath.

I was thinking tribal belonging stuff of the farcebook supporters.
In a sense the aftermath is the interesting bit, when people have calmed down and are (hopefully) making sense of it. Perhaps not if they've had a similar bereavement that hasn't been well resolved.
