This is a link post 50 Shades Of Grey Wins Specsavers National Book Award.
The irony that it's sponsored by Specasavers just made me spit coffee everywhere.

This is a normal post More specifically
"popular fiction book of the year"

In a zeitgeist fashion, it pretty much is. It's a massive seller and most people seem to have some sort of opinion on it, even if it's the "FUCKING KILL IT WITH FIRE" type of opinion.

This is a normal post Does it show a list of previous winners?
Could do with getting some Christmas ideas for my brother. He gobbles up this kind of toss and then tells me to read it. Cunt.

This is a normal post Haha, good point. Kinda.
But I read books that I know are terrible but I enjoy them (see the entire series of Sharpe books) but they're not a touch on the shite he puts up with. Dan Brown, JK Rowling etc. I'm no reading toff, but my brother's taste is utterly woeful (not just in reading).

This is a normal post So is this
Literary snobbery? Why does it matter if a book you Are not going to read wins an award that you don't care about?
