Once after a fatal fire in a backpacker's hostel in austrailia someone rang asking to speak to me
When my sister said she was going to get me the guy on the end said "Don't worry if he's with you, I'm from the Times. Someone with that name has died in the fire and I'm ringing round to find the right family to get comment from".
Now every time I see a comment like "we're too upset to speak" I know that some bastard has intruded on a family's grief just for that one line.
