I think what most people have been saying is less
"you should arrest people if you think they might commit a crime" and more "the law states that you can arrest people if you think they might commit a crime - use all means political to change that law". Which is not what some people want to hear. Some people would prefer to fuck up the place, and see if change will happen. The problem is, because nothing is being done which the mass populous can back. Most people can't abide loudspeakers, and their city being fucked up during protests. (I am sure the policing of these events is partly to blame)
A party needs to come out and say they will reform the laws. Of course these laws are extreme and pretty disgusting, but we are in a situation right now where as a society we are at risk (or certainly feels that is at risk - it may not be real) from bigger threats than Thinghy McBob and Doo Lallins and their Dixons window panning, but people that would quite like to have disrupted events with nail bombs and the like. Thats the excuse for these laws. However they abuse these laws, and shit like this happens.
