Good to hear this (no pun intended)
I was wondering how you got on. Im deaf as a post in my left ear, and partially deaf in the other. After meeting someone with a cochlear implant (who said it was ace) and hearing your story, ill have to look into it. Any hearing in my left ear is better than nowt.
Was yours done free on the NHS, or was it a pricey jobby? Digital hearing aids are crazy expensive, so im thankful for the NHS giving me one for nowt.

No harm in asking your GP for a referral to your nearest cochlear implant department and getting assessed

What kind of Socialist hell is this?
You had a life-changing operation like that and you didn't have to pay a thing outside of your normal taxes? That's absolutely disgusting - it means that *anyone* could get that done if they wanted to.
How about the death panel? How did you manage to convince them not to kill you?
