I used to ride a motorcycle, but after unrelated back surgery I had the fear about going into an emergency room and doctors poking about without the benefit of knowing what was wrong with me ahead of time.
In the states, people keep forcing mass transit where there is simply no population density. They levy a higher tax on gasoline to pay for it. It always comes out 50% higher than originally estimated; the ridership (due to low population density) never meets the projections and when you see the real costs, you could have bought every rider a new car and paid for gas for 10 years for the amount of money spent. Then, because they don't have the riders, they decide to penalize car drivers through wheelage taxes and higher "transit" taxes on gasoline. And the level of crime (at least in my city) is astonishing.
