I've shot the 1911. I don't like the safety mechanism or the slide. Too clunky
The Sig is better balanced and has a decocking lever that turns the firing pin away from the hammer, so even if dropped, etc. there is no possibility of firing, until you so the hard DA pull.
I am really happy with the polymer.

It's all part of it, i'd rather take a bit of inconvenience to have a solid steel and wood gun.
