I met him briefly when I was working on springwatch, for some reason he swung by to see Bill Oddie, he seemed like a nice enough bloke.
He shouldn't be presenting and professing about archaeology though, I just find his screen persona really annoying.

He seems to have been doing that sort of stuff forever; Blood and Honey seems as old as Blackadder.
