I do find it odd that people refer to J.J. Abrams as a genius
For basically doing what any right minded NON-Trek fan would have done with the franchise from the start, given the opportunity... by adding in explosions and lens flares to make it more exciting and, well, watchable.
Genius, that man. Genius.
