Gold troubles me greatly
so the theory goes 'in bad times,gold is a hard currency' how does that follow if it all goes tits and its on paper?
Also, if you actually get your nuggets out, pre apocalypse, whos to say you dont just get your noggin stoved in for your gold?
Its all cobblers, the gold bubble will herald the recovery and stories of 'how much I had on paper.....' will be the base for 'lols' for decades.

even if you hold it physically,
if food is scarce anyone would be mad to sell it to you in exchange for some shiny metal.
Its price is insane right now, and the gold bugs are still claiming its "real value" is umpty times its current market price. Which doesn't even make any sense.
