This is a normal post I really don't know why everyone reacts with such revulsion
C      It's a perfectly acceptable language to work in as long as
C      you understand the fact that it was designed to be written
C      on a VT52 terminal.

This is a normal post I work on the business side dealing with consultant firms who lie about the next best thing and how all their PM and BA s are experts at all these languages.

This is a normal post Fortran was the language we had to learn in engineering classes.
I actually enjoyed it. So much so that my classmates ended up stealing my homework and copying it.

It's just a nightmare when studying five other subjects at the same time.

This is a normal post Just learn whatever programming language gets the highest day rate...
When that tails off, pick the next one and move on.

Keep a decent working knowledge of HTML/CSS and basic javascript (unless it's your chosen language of course (and probably a good move right now (*btw - I feel that it's ok to nest parentheses during a nerd converstaion*))).

I'm a ruby developer and have no shame in not being fluent in all the other options. If I had to hire someone under 40 who claimed to be fluent in everything, I'd assume they were bullshitting me (I've worked with one or two people who genuinely were, but it was obvious that they were mega-nerds from our first encounter).

I don't know about outside of London, but there seems to be plenty of work around for my nerd friends who span quite a few languages between them.

Just pick one or two and be REALLY good at it.
