but is it odd that im actually more looking forward to seeing the short film at the start of it (paperman) than the actual film?

Disney needs to market them separately.
I love their Lorenzo short film, but I'm not going to buy a copy of Raising Helen just to see that extra on its own. The early Pixar collection demonstrated there's clearly a market for those animated shorts, but there's no indication of any movement on that front for the rest of their extensive animated short feature catalog.
