This is a normal post oh good lord
I...I've said too much

actually, it's just an excuse to say "Some of those albums are good, but I like these better" but in the most aggressive way possible.

This is a normal post Harrumph well whatever is at number 458 is clearly better than what's at number 457

This is a normal post Indeed
And what are they thinking with 235 and 93? Clearly 93 is only 129 and 235 is more like 335!! Idiots.

This is a normal post Could they not just publish it as a list?
I can't be bothered to click through 500 individual pages.

Also, pffft establishment! In 200 years nobody will remember about top hundred.

edit: Seriously, Amy Winehouse, Green Day, Arctic Monkeys? Guess that's why I don't read Rolling Stones.

This is a normal post It's a proper grandad's list
in 200 years we'll be listening to brainmusic piped directly into our nervous system from Venus. And Whigfield.

This is a normal post I tell you, turn down this venusian racket!

This is a normal post it's almost as if liking music were subjective,
and trying to sort it all in order of quality is a positively idiotic thing to do.

This is a normal post They could at least uphold consistent
criteria, that's all.

edit: Oh, sorry I've forgot, primary criterion was "among 500 greatest albums of all time according to RS".

This is a normal post Most of them are records I have
recently taken to the charity shop in order to purge my collection of stuff I bought but which never meant much to me.

This is a normal post I'm not even clicking that.
Otherwise I'll be going to sleep tonight, muttering under my breath "How could they even do that, this one is much superior. Atrocious. Horrendous. Absolute bastar......."

EDIT: Music is personal and so everyone has their own "top" collections, and so it should remain...

This is a normal post NOOOO!
Everything which is subjective, should be settled in bare-chested fist fights! What are you, some kind of communist?

This is a normal post Very
middle-aged white guy...no mention of Aphex Twin (or anything more on the electronic end of things). Taken purely on the influential-scale elements of his style are quietly spattered all over the 21st Century like musical bukkake. But then taste is taste, and I'm happy Innervisions is so high on the list.

This is a normal post the industry *shudders* is less than a century old and just twenty years ago
an album would have been a day or so's wages for your average fan depending on income. many artists through history, musical or otherwise, died poor and were not recognised or valued *shudders* until well after their deaths and the wheel keeps on turning... then came the internet... etc

ha ha - matter eventually condensed in to caveman hipsters smacking rocks together ironically whilst longer-bearded neanderthals looked on, shocked at the terrible racket they were creating; no respect for classic of rock-smacking...
