This is a link post This afternoon
My Canon camera also shoots videos, and I finally got around to giving it a go at work this afternoon, first with a Fisheye lens with the llamas, and with Geri the Red Panda, somewhat foolishly with my 100-400 mm which weighs a ton. Nothing much happens, but it's my first 'proper' film! :)

This is a normal post Wow thats really good quality, and sounds good aswell!
What camera do you have can I ask, Ive got two instalments of my student loan coming through, i could be tempted to do something very silly indeed...

This is a normal post Canon 5D mark II
You do have much cheaper options though, the Nikon 5000 I think will have built in video

This is a normal post mmmmm
5D *rubs knees in Vic Reeves style* not that you can buy them at the moment even if you have the money. There's a bit of a shortage according to my camera shop. You can apparently trick a 450D or 40D into doing video, but I think it has to be attached to a PC so not really practical.

This is a normal post I saw something the other day you may be interested in
www.redrockmicro.com/redrock_dslr.html - It's a Matte box, casing, shoulder mounts etc. designed just for these new fangled video DSLR's. I'm considering getting one myself. I'll be getting work to pay for it though...obviously.

This is a normal post Ah
these are pricey off the top of my head, bit out of reach for a charity; and quite pointless for me to splash out on I suspect

This is a normal post Yeah
I can't see many being bought. You're only going to get this is you're seriously in to making films, but then...you'd have a normal camera. I'm very curious to see what the stills look like when taken with all of this on though.

This is a normal post Most of the professional photographers i've come into contact with simply rent stuff at that level
I mean even as a pro you simply don't need a 56 million pixel Hasselblad on a day to day basis, or even the finest wide angle lens Canon make; it's simply a pointless investment. But yes, me curious as well :)

This is a normal post Especially for that tunnel and glass dome
the Meerkats don't seem at all bothered and it's simply fantastic for the kids to get so close to them, safely.
