This is a link post WORK, CRIPPLES, WORK
I like how /links has reasoned arguments about cats being cunts and other important political subjects.

I've been reading about the disability benefits reforms and I'm slightly worried.

Things like the twitter tag of #spartacusreport and viewfromanamputee.blogspot.co.uk/ make me wonder exactly how hard and deep are we going to cut? The leg? The arm?

EDIT: Then again, if you are not enamoured with these reforms:

I believe most in this country would turn a blind eye if the sick & needy were quietly euthanized.

This is a normal post Its a fucking disgrace
Atos the company responsible for assessment are doing a terrible job, it's scary and shocking. I have heard some awful stories from people who have been involved in, or gone through the process.
Sadly, I think they are here to stay, how on earth people are going to continue to live with no benefits AND being not fit for work I just don't know
*sigh*

This is a normal post ahh, but there's the rub
according to Atos, most people _are_ fit for work.

Atos have form with giving shitty assessments, and to the casual observer, it might appear that they have been brought in with the explicit task of cutting the numbers, regardless of the specifics of the individual cases...

not only do they fuck over those unable to work, they have such poor professional standards that they managed to give away the savings of a dude called Dave Sullivan (premium bond saving under contract with state owned NS&I)
£30'000 on the basis of a fake passport, with entirely different basic personal information.
which he is still waiting for, 6 months on...

This is a normal post I know..
I meant that although classed as 'fit' they are actually not.
This has plenty of awful examples

You only have to look at the number of rulings that are overturned at tribunal to know what useless cunts they are.

This is a normal post having been through
the system my self, Atos are a cunch of bunts. Luckily I used the time of appeals and tribunals to get myself better and fit for work. where as at the time of the assessment I was a right old mess. To be honest 90% of the people in the waiting room were morbidly obese and hobbling around on crutches..
I'm now working/volunteering for 2 mental health charities helping people fill in their forms and fight the tribunals and the deadly Atos medicals. For example your allowed to take a representative in to the medical as much as they say your not. The waiting lists for this service is going through the roof. So I am now in charge of writing a project of helping these people who have fallen through the system gain confidence and get back to work..now the system is changing again its a blooming mindfield, luckily for me what i learn't in my time of mental health and how the system works is working its self off in a paid job. Last march I got to talk at a mental health conference and i got the chance to tell the audience how bad atos and a4e are...hahahha, they had their reps in the audience...whoops

This is a normal post I approve wholeheartedly with this statement
I haven't come into direct contact with atos(sers) but I know plenty of people who have. Like the fella with a slipped disc, had to travel 40 miles in agony by car (his wife drove) to attend an atos appointment only to be told he was well enough to work. He's a self employed blacksmith. With a slipped disc. Not a good combo. So he didn't get a penny. Cnuts
