This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

People who have lots of uncles/aunties and
spend lots of time with their cousins.

Me: "What are you doing this weekend"

Girl: "Goin' out with me cousins again round town"

It sounds strange but all the "common" people I have known always seem to have lots of uncles and aunties who live in the same town who they are very close with and see all the time. The same applies to the cousins, they hang around like best mates.

I haven't seen some of my aunites/uncles for 10 years+ and I wouldn't recognise 90% of my cousins if they slapped me in the face.

Maybe I'm mad. But I noticed it years ago and I always notice it now.

define 'lots'
I have a fair few aunts and uncles and as a result i have qute a few cousins.

im not posh but just because my family are pretty sound and i do havfe some stuff in comon with my cousins of a similar age does this make me common

i dont spend all my time in their pockets (i live in a different country) but when it comes to christmas, new year, birthday parties, someone to meet up with for a chat and a brew- why not call on the family

note: also good for favours- movin house, trying to fix your car etc...

dont knock it

i've got roughly 60 cousins
but i don't hang around with any of them, due to the fact that, after 5 minutes, i'd be tempted to dig my eyes out with spoons, just to get away from them.
