Romeo by Petula Clark
Of course there was no pop music when I was growing up. It was banned. My people thought it would blight my mind and stunt my growth. Women were regarded with the same view. So it was a breakthrough when for the magnificent sum of 6 shillings and 3 pence I made my first purchase of a 'pop' record. It was a slippery slope I can tell you. Women reared their ugly heads in due course and I sank into a life of mild debauchery - a family failing, I was told.

Elastic sided shoes soon followed and a cord jacket. Was there no end to this descent? I'm still on my way down - so I'll let you know......
