Love is blind....deaf........and definately dumb.
My friend had a pen pal (yep, remember those? -before email), she was quite taken with him and told me all about him, only drawback was the following:

Friend: 'He calls his mum by a funny name!'
Me: 'What does he call his mum?'
Friend: 'Tongue'
Me: 'What?'
Friend: 'Yeah, she's Italian!'

I then read letter, it read:
'My mother tongue is Italian...'
