This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

Cooookiiiiieeessss
Growing up in the late 70's and 80's I was partial to a bit of the old Sesame Street.

Favourite characters were Grover, The Honkers, The 2 headed monster etc etc. However out of them all it was THE COOKIE MONSTER

Now for those of you who haven't seen him - he is a big furry blue monster, who had a caring side and a stressed side, all subsided though when he got Cookies.

He loved them, NOM NOM NOM NOM and cookies would fucking fly everywhere. Quality

Here goes (i can feel my anger growing)

Last week ALL copies of DVD's that had early episodes of Cookie Monster going radio over cookies have been pulled from the shelves.

Apparantley it promotes obesity.

AAAGGGGHHH HOW?

Bert and Ernie loved rubber ducks, doesnt make me want to go and fuck something rubber.

So listen up you fat fucking pie eating cunts. Get to the fucking gym and stop stuffing your fucking faces you massive land slugs.

I want my monster back

FUCKING WANKERS.

Bastards...
...the Cookie Monster was my fave in S Street too. What next, Animal the drummer from The Muppets because he 'promotes' ADD?

Fucking stupid.

I feel your pain!
That cookie monster made me laugh well into my teenage years.

Teenage years?
FFS, I'm, er, out of my teens now, and still find Cookie Monster funny.

erm..
I thought i read somewhere it was only the scene of cookie monster eating a tobaco pipe that was pulled as it promotes smoking and the high stupidity of eating it.

Banned Cookie Monster
It's been going on for a while now - I use it as part of my stand-up routine:

tinylnk.com/AWNK46

And yes, I am a fat bastard, but at least I have the honesty to admit I ate all the pies rather than blaming a glove puppet, FFS.

I remember reading about this...
He doesn't sing 'C is for Cookie' any more, he sings 'Cookies are a sometimes food'.

To be honest, I *can* see a point. Sesame Street is for education as well as for enjoyment and if the lardy arsed Merkins think a blue sock is the best route to dietary education, then good luck to them.

Yes, OK. It's raping our childhood. But we can still get our fix. (Youtube for Cookie monster with Martha Stewart for a laugh) But sometimes things change and sometimes things remain the same.

I've just realised. 'Lardy Arsed Merkins' isn't exactly PC, is it? Meh.

The Cookie Monster
was originally concieved as an advertising character for Frito-Lay. Fast food snack manufacturers spend billions every year to brainwash kids into eating the shit they pedal. Kids are stoopid; FACT. They cannot make their own decisions. They have more contact with TV than with their parents.

To those people who say "Would you put your hand in a garbade disposal just because adverts say you should?" I respond with "No, because no one is spending 10 billion dollars a year trying to convince me that putting my hand in a garbage disposal will make me look cool and sexy. I might if they were."

Cookie Monster is one of the best reasons to be alive on this planet
Are you sure this story is true? Even if it is, I'm with moogthedog - it's a shame, but at least there's a good reason behind it.
