# thing is
if you can't handle the lid, then how are you going to handle the onions?

Also - I recently broke the code and taught my 10yo daughter how to open jars. She was amazed at her own strength.

# Taught?
How do you need teaching to open a jar?

# its all about how you grip and what you turn

# Is there?
I just open them, Maybe I just have always done it the 'right' way...

# oh indeed
this is just for troublesome bottles and jars or for young children.

In essence, you grip the lid and turn the bottle/jar

best way is to grip the lid is to turn you hand upside down and clasp with the fleshy part between your thumb and index finger. then use the other hand to turn the jar/bottle - EDIT: both done with locked wristz so you use your entire arm as a lever

My mother used to pierce the lids of beetroot and onions first then sellotape it over. Great for releasing the pressure first, but was still messy afterwards

# "If all else fails and your man isn't home. Throw the jar on a hard kitchen floor as hard as you can and scoop the contents up with a spoon. Works every time."
Had to laugh at that one.

# Or smash the glass to get the goods out
I haven't done that yet, by the way, but there could come a time...
