# ok... i think i know what you mean :)
click on one of the dots... then hit F5... you should get a non-dotted but dark frame... click on the frame and you can drag it out over as many frames as you like... or hit F5 a lot...

# ah it might have been useful
for the tutorials to tell me this... humph... lets see if I can get my m3tatw33ning finished now. I'm just miserable he wouldn't let me send it in as a gif...

thanks

# piss
that doesn't work... it has to be something simple but I don't know why it won't let me place filled in dots.

# hang on...
you're trying to convert an animated gif into an avi via flash?
if so i think you're best to import the gif into flash rather than psds... it should automatically do the timing for you... (file menu... import...)

# hmmm, well, no, I wasn't going to do that
my "animation" is effectively about 7 stills with a bit of motion tween on the last 2 so I figured I'd do it in Flash for the tweening. but I just can't get my bloody layers to show up.

# that's odd...
which version of flash are you using?
(, Tue 26 Aug 2003, 3:01, archived)
# I@m using flash mx
I've imported the psds to the library so as not to lose image quality then dropped them from the library onto layers.

# so what's in the file at the moment?
7 images each on a separate layer, each 1 frame long? and you want to stretch them over time?
edit: did you just delete a post or am i going mad?
edit edit: i have no idea... i must be missing something... i'm on flibz if you want to throw questions at me when i'm fully awake tomorrow... this may just be too late for my brain to be helpful... from what you've said you should be able to see the pics...

# Too bad you aren't using Fireworks
You just export your animation as a .swf.

# ooh ooh question!
fnord was going to send me some keyframes, turned out I couldn't find a siuitable way to export to avi - flash won't do it on a mac I gather - and when I exported flash to quicktime to convert to avi the compression borked the test animation up...any ideas about this?
(, Tue 26 Aug 2003, 3:06, archived)
# hmm... not too sure...
you can export from flash as a sequence of jpgs which means you've basically got a mjpg avi (so reasonable quality)... you just need something to stick them together (sorry, only software i know to do that is for a pc but there must be something for macs)...
sorry... that's not hugely helpful!

# thanks
I've got to do some digging around.
pickledpizza told me what he used for compression, but on my machine the same thing produced a really bad avi, colours all skewed and a huge file size...hmmm.

perhaps I'll get it sorted before the next tweening starts up.

# i fucking hate
flash. it always seems to be changing its mind for no fathomable(word?) reason.
