# Strange
I could see it here after cutting and pasting the address in the browser.
(, Tue 3 Sep 2002, 12:28, archived)
# yes
you discovered how they detect hotlink. In the HTTP header, there is a REFERER field, which contains the site that the user came from, or, in the case of b3ta, that the image is being linked from. If you just bung the address in the browser, it'll work fine as there is no referer.

Have I spelt referer right?

[edit] does that sound too preachy/patronising. sorry if it does. I'm not very good at choosing the appropriate tone.

# appropriate tone checker

Not angry, but waving

# I did say sorry
christ, it's like posting to b3ta in nazi germany

# I could see it on B3ta after
going to the image location. Must be cacheing or something.

# Testing...

[edit] Cool! it works!! Try renaming your image to "blah.html", then link to that... That might get round their filter stuff :-)
