Ah well.
tj: does anyone have any ideas why a computer will suddenly die and refuse to turn back on again?

i'd also check the connections inside
check cables going from the power supply to the board are all on properly.
signal to turn the power on comes from the motherboard these days.
erm.. also.. you can smell the power supply... if it smells like burning stuff it's probably blown a cap and therefore needs replacing...
new one only about £30
or if you can see any capacitors on the motherboard with scorch marks round them... you know it's the board...
you can bridge the connectors to make the power supply fire up if you suspect it's the board but you aren't sure... prolly best you don't do that tho.
