# Good lad!!
Currently doing the same down to the much more hardcore Blackwall Tunnel on my T-Max.

What's a T-Max? It's a VFR without the faff.

# T-max?
not the V-max??

edit: the 'faff' keeps me on the bike at 135mph!!hahah (saves being blown off the back!)

# No. Definately T-Max.

Yes, it's a scooter.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Will crack a ton and shame any sporty at the traffic light GP.

It's the faff that makes them slow. How else do you explain a 40bhp, 200kg scooter kicking their butts?

# *ahem*
...*chuckle*.. I wont laugh.. I KNOW there are some fast scoots out there, but there is NO WAY your scoot will beat me to a ton! (That, I'd put money on!) :)

# Not to a ton, no.
But I'd get to fifty before you.

# hehe...
..ok, if you say so..

# Seriously...
...I've had all manner of bikes away from the traffic light GP. While you're busy stopping to change gear, I'm off and away. Getting past me means either having to wait until you've changed up or getting me straight away (but that means abusing the rev limiter).

TBH, although folks like us like to talk up speed, I'm just happy to ride. If it's got two wheels and a motor, you've got my undying respect. There's far too much bad shit going on out there to be partisan.

# stopping to change gear?
when you are winding up your auto-gear box... my clutch is on fire and testing me to try and stay onboard!...I change into second gear at about 60 mph... 2nd at about 85..then if the limiter dont kick in, I'm in forth for the tonne, with 2 more to go!...'off the line' racing is about knowing the machine...not 'what the book says'...

# a ton, over there is like 60 miles per hour here, right?
Our speed limit is 65 mph and nobody drives less than 70-75 mph. Is a ton (100 kph) supposed to be fast there?

# It's enough...
...to endanger one's licence.

The fastest that you can legally go in the UK is 70mph. Anyone actually doing 100mph on the road is pushing their luck.

# yeah, I've lost my license 4 times in the last 20 years..........
but we hit 100 mph daily out here in the country....and 120 mph on the interstates at night........and we are considered slow to the guys on rice rockets. A guy in Minnesota just got a ticket for going 205 mph.....how much is that in kilometers per hour?
(, Thu 11 Nov 2004, 3:24, archived)
# he states mph

# Auto-Box...?!
CVT more like. Keeps the engine in the fat of the powerband until 80+mph.

TBH, scooters are always going to be pretty useless on a track or drag strip. However, they are not to be discounted out on the road. That CVT has to be worth at least an extra 250cc.

# haha..
I normally ride at *about* 90mph PLUS, as does most of the UK commuters...yeah, I KNOW its WAY above the UK limit... but you have to be here to appreciate it... I'm on 2 wheels, MOST of my fellow commuters are in BMWs etc..it might seem fast to you, but I stay in 4th (of 6) to cruise the ton! (100mph)..I normally skittle along at just below 160kph (100mph?..god knows, I STILL havent worked out the clocks, even after 6 months!)

# you've intreged me..
..I gotta find a local T-Max rider willing to have a burn.
