Is what controlls temperament. In theory it makes you very passive, and they used to use it to cure excessively violent people.
I don't think they do it so much anymore.

Edit: just noticed, someones attributed that to Tom Waits. Now I like waits, but that just ain't true.

Edit: So loads of people have attributed it to tom waits....guess i'm wrong.
