and the ads are using a javascript that builds itself up in bits

so words like SCRIPT are done as SCR IPT and joined together.. firefox must filter them in a really naive way

.. I just block all the ad sites at home using squid; the amount of bandwidth and headaches it saves is great

they`re pop "unders" that pop windows behind the current window so you don`t see them until later

I have no idea what you mean. I was going to host it at tinypic

but their server is playing up. Besides I don't see any ads or popups. Unlike some I am able to use IE without falling foul of the shite people exploit it with. I have no need to use firefox.
When I click the thumbnail I just get the imageshack page and the picture, not a single ad.
I can't help people who can't keep their systems clean from ads.

And it was not even meant for you, I just had to reply somewhere. It's more about people having a go at me because I won't join the cool ship firefox. Why can't people just allow other people to use the applications of their choice without being elitist about it? I don't preen about my search client to people who are dumb enough to think that Google is an efficient way to search the web.

everyones other pet hate, Norton Internet Security 2005 . Because a) I don't understand or see the system hogging that people witter on about and b) it does what I want it to. For all people slag it off i can tell you it does a sterling job of stripping ads from sites. I can go to places that are covered in banner ads and I'm unlucky if I see one.

I've always thought I was just doing the sensible thing. I like to use what works for me and I seriously get flummoxed at the things people say about the stuff I use. Each to their own of course. I have Firefox, I just forget to use it because it serves to give me no discernable advantage plus it's different, and at my age different just means harder to handle. I still think that if something is industry standard like Norton then therte is a good chance it does the job.
As my mum said " It's not you that's different son, it's everyone else".

See. I just

put this down to incompetence. 1 mine never pops up at all. I'm clever enough to tell it to work in the background. 2. it uninstalls with 1 click, it just does not clean the registry too much, but unless you want to install it again that's no problem. 3. It works exactly how the manual explains it works, it just needs someone to understand how to set it up. There is not a product that comes close to it and I include McAfee in that. But you may have your opinion, I'll just sit here and smirk.
