aim for 50k and everyone will love you.
If it means the picture has to be small, then thats fine as long as you can still read it.
If you can't then post a thumbnail with a link to the full size one.
I would say 300x500 or 500x300 is easily big enough for most images.
But just watch what gets posted and go by that.
