# Actually, the language is much more accessible than it looks at first.
But people (not you Archie, just saying) will still beat them with any fucking stick they can find. It's pathetic.

# we're doing some business with a joinery company in Poland at the mo,
some of the nicest people you could ever meet, and very eager to do well. Their joinery and general work ethic is second to none as well.
Very nice hosts as well :)

# hahaha, my co-director went out there last week
was put up by one of the families - on their demand, they didn't want him staying just anyhere.
beer with main meal, and then out came the moonshine until about 1am.
He was in no fit state to discuss the details of building a £200k solid oak conservatory the next day via an interpreter.
/He nearly got attacked by wild wolves as well.
I wish some of the youngsters we turn out in school had their work ethic :(
(, Wed 20 Feb 2008, 11:58, archived)
# Sounds about right. I do so look forward to our 'dinners' with her side of the family,
during which actual food is very much treated as an afterthought. :)

# there are times when I wish I could still drink alcohol
cos I would have gladly have been on that flight instead.

# She's actually Russian by birth,
so if I couldn't drink I might as well be cast out of the family. ;D

# It's true...
I wonder if that's where the resntment comes from.

The fact that they get wankered and still get up at 5am to do a 14 hour day, whilst our lot can't be arsed to get off the sofa
(, Wed 20 Feb 2008, 12:02, archived)
# I know, several of my mates are still there, and my missus lived there between the ages of 5 and 22,
and I can honestly say that the people I've been lucky enough to meet on my numerous trips across that country have been the most fucking wonderful individuals - as talkers, listeners, companions and trustworthy friends, as well as for getting drunk and having a laugh with.

It makes me so angry to see the way they're treated by a twat minority in this country...often simply for being prepared to do jobs that a lot of English people sniff at (until the opportunity is taken away from them by a less arrogant/lazy nation - then it's all 'hey! that was mine, foreigner...' blah fucking blah. Arseholes.)
(, Wed 20 Feb 2008, 11:58, archived)
# so, so right
if some of our youngsters weren't so busy whining, mugging, taunting and intimdating people, going on about how life is so bad to them,
they could actually graft a bit and start earning themselves out of the hole they 'think' they're in.

Not just about the money, but having a relatively stable force in your life does tend to mean the rest of it falls into place quite nicely

Christ, I've just turned into the human form of the Daily Mail

# It's just that the vast majority of Polish people I've met have such a spot-on attitude.
Philosophical, wry, self-deprecating but determined...I mean take this guy, what a fucking legend:

www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/feb/20/voluntarysector6

Is he bitter? Twisted? Full of hate and destructive rage? Is he fuck, he's already talking about getting back on the horse and having a better time of it tomorrow. As opposed to kicking the shit out of a phone box.
(, Wed 20 Feb 2008, 12:04, archived)
# It's an attitude and spirit which I wish the majority here still had :)
having to teach some of the 'up-&-coming' construction industry's finest, it does depress me somewhat.

The 16-20 year olds I teach are seriously driving me towards quitting the part time lecturing altogether. There is an air of 'can't be arsed' among all of them - even the bright ones.
